Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into cubes
- 3-4 tbsp ice water
For the Filling:
- 6-8 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
Instructions:
- Prepare the Crust:
- In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
- Add chilled butter and cut into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough comes together.
- Roll out the dough and fit it into a 22cm pie pan. Trim the excess and refrigerate.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
- Pour the apple mixture into the crust.
- Bake:
- Preheat the oven to 190°C.
- Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Serve:
- Allow the pie to cool before slicing. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
